Why You’re Failing at Character?
Your flaws are what makes you unique and stand out. However, not all flaws should be flaunted or boasted about. Some flaws can use a little bit of improvement here and there. Don’t get us wrong, we don’t want you to be perfect, because let’s face it, perfection is a façade. No one can achieve optimal perfection, but with a little practice, you can certainly get close to it.
All it takes is for you to address your character flaws and find ways to improve on them. At times, it may frustrate you when they keep popping up, but overtime, you will be able to limit their invitation. The funny thing is that some people may not even realize that they have a certain flaw, until someone points it out.
Whatever you do, don’t get your guns out, but take it with stride and try not to do a repeat. The following list contains the most obvious and threatening character flaws that you want to distance yourself from:
1. Enviousness of Other People’s Success
When others applaud for a colleague or friend’s success, you sulk in a corner. The green monster in you rears its ugly head and it shows. Your expressions, false smile, and “whatever and I don’t care,” attitude give you away.
2. Defensiveness to Other’s Criticism
Have you gotten a big head and now, you don’t think that anyone is capable of giving you advice? If people don’t tell you where you need improvement, you will never improve as a person. Instead of rebuffing their attempts, ask them for advice.
3. Aloofness to Other People
Your icy cold stare is not making you any friends. You may not care what other people may think, but if you keep this up, people will stop inviting you. If they have no choice, but to invite you, they will take a sigh of relief when you leave, and that’s when the real party will start.
4. Volatility to become the Central of Attention
So, you are the type of person that needs all eyes on them wherever they go. If you can’t stand to have the spotlight away from you, you will probably go to extreme lengths to make sure that it stays on you. Remember that people that talk about them a lot will likely be the most talked about person as well—And not in a positive sense either.
5. Eagerness to be Goody Two Shoes
When polite and generous behavior turns into a blatant attempt of sucking up, it makes it easier for people to see behind the persona. People will see you for what you are and not what you want them to see you as.
6. Judgmental to Other People’s Actions
If you are continuously nitpicking on other people behavior, you will make more foes than allies. People with the habit of reporting on the minutest misbehavior and putting people down because of it will struggle to make true friends.
If you identify with any of the flaws listed here, you had better begin to work on them. The sooner you fix them, the better the chances of you to succeed will be.
