What You Should Know About Chihuahuas?

Chihuahuas gained popularity in the United States when they appeared in the infamous Taco Bell commercials. The infamous line by the Taco Bell Chihuahua still rings in our ears today, “Yo Quiero Taco Bell.” The dog gained a mass following by the public, but it was socialite Paris Hilton who provided the dog with worldwide recognition.

In the beginning of her fame, she used to tote around a Chihuahua in her hand everywhere she went. For the poor Chihuahuas, there image as the Spanish- speaking dog in the commercials and as Paris Hilton’s sidekick to posh events has overshadowed rest of their qualities. So, Chihuahuas, this is for you! We have listed everything you need to know about Chihuahuas:

1.     Keep Your Finger Way from Their Heads

People should not poke a Chihuahua’s head, as just like a human newborn baby, they also have molera, which are soft spots located on the head. Even though our soft spots disappear, a Chihuahua’s soft spot may stay on their head for the rest of their life.

2.     The Two Type of Chihuahuas You Probably Didn’t Know Existed

Did you know that in the world existed two types of Chihuahuas? If you did not know, you were not the only one without that knowledge, as we did not know either. You have Chihuahuas who have a longer snout and a narrow-shaped head while the other type of Chihuahua has the shape of an Apple, rounder with shorter snouts.

3.     Steer Clear of Them

You should not get too close to them, especially if you have no had them at a young age. Chihuahuas have a fiery personality, meaning they will get protective and aggressive. If you do not believe us, ask the residents of Arizona. In a small town situated in Arizona, a pack of Chihuahuas teamed up with bigger dogs with a mission to take over the town and if their plan had worked, the world!

4.     They Shrunk in Height

Chihuahuas were not always small, as history tells us that they were larger and bigger than the breeds we see now. The Chihuahuas are said to be crossbred with a small hairless dog such as the Chinese Crested.

5.     They hold the Title for the Smallest Dog

Standing at just six inches tall, Chihuahuas hold the title for the smallest dog in the world. In their award ceremony speech, they should thank the hairless dog for choosing them as their mate.
