Margaret Kirkwood was one of the first converts to the Church in Scotland. In the spring of 1856, Margaret left Scotland with her four sons and sailed to America to join the Saints in Utah.
Margaret sold most of her precious belongings to obtain money for her handcart and supplies. Her family left Iowa City July 15th.
In August, they left Winter Quarters as part of the Willie Handcart Company.
The High Road tells the inspiring true story of what happened on October 24, 1856.
