Patience Is Key
You may have heard this expression over a million times in your life! But you would never have looked at it in a way that it could change your life.
You often take sayings like that for granted. You believe that your life is what it is. There’s barely any shift that a fable can create in its flow.
How very wrong you are!
Patience is not just a virtue; it is a key! To what, you ask?
Well, let’s find out!
Once upon a time there was a man who wanted to be the most successful martial artist in the world. He aspired to be a student of the best master. He travelled for days and arrived at the school. Finally, he met with the teacher. The teacher asked him, “What do you want to learn from me?”
The man answered, “I want to be the best martial artist in the country.”
Impatient and wanting to start as soon as possible, the man could not contain himself. “How much time do you think it will take for me to complete my learning?”
The teacher observed the man closely. He could tell that he was driven and he would make the best of his efforts to learn as quickly as possible. However, he could also tell that the man was impatient.
“It would take you ten years.”
The man could not believe his ears. “But that’s too long!” He answered quite disappointed. “What if I worked twice as hard as everyone else? How long would it take then?”
“It would take twenty years.”
The man felt even more discouraged now. “What if I worked day and night to accomplish my goal?”
“It would take you thirty years.”
The man stopped for a moment. He had observed that the harder he said he would work, the more time the teacher thought would take him to complete the task.
“Why do you think it would take me longer to learn when I will work harder than the rest?” The man asked curiously.
The teacher sighed heavily. He was glad that the man had finally asked him the correct question. “With one eye fixed on your goal, you will only be able to work half as efficiently with the other one. Hence, it will take you longer no matter how hard you work!”

Patience is the key to many opportunities. In the race of life, we often fear lagging behind others. We undermine the value that patience can add to our efforts and the way it can influence results in our lives.
This fable clearly shows us that patience takes us farther than we give it credit for! Many people think that if they show impatience, they will be able to move faster than others. However, they couldn’t be more wrong! Patience takes you a long way, whether you see it or not. All you need to do is wait it out and see.
