The MINI GP is not the most powerful hot hatch ever created, nor is it the most agile, but it is one of the most entertaining hotties we’ve driven in recent memory.
With the back seats ripped out, the engine internals reinforced and upgraded suspension, brakes and steering added, this is not a sticker-job special. The BMW-sourced 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder bangs out 225kW and sees the MINI scorch to 100km/h in 5.2 seconds. Top speed is 265km/h.
The third-generation MINI GP’s high performance is communicated by a wide-body kit with pumped up carbon-fibre wheel-arches, while the chunky front apron and massive rear wing are claimed to improve aerodynamics.
