The Cheers cast was led by Ted Danson, who played the role of Sam Malone. Many fans aren’t surprised to know that he’s aged quite well over the years. Perhaps that’s the reason he’s still very active in television today – or maybe it’s the other way around! While he’s most recently known for starring in the sitcom "The Good Place", he’s had many credits to his name and continues to lead a successful career.
Shelley Long, who played Diane Chambers in Cheers, was a beloved cast member who also enjoyed quite a lengthy career in entertainment. Most recently, she appeared in a holiday-themed retelling of "The Parent Trap", called "The Christmas Trap".
Woody Harrelson, who played Woody Boyd, is perhaps the most recognized cast member from Cheers. He’s had a huge Hollywood career, appearing in blockbuster films like Zombieland and The Hunger Games. Most recently, he appeared in the 2019 film, Midway, and has lots more on the docket for 2021.
Rhea Perlman played Carla Tortelli. After her time on Cheers, her resume may not have developed quite as fully as some of her other co-stars. Nonetheless, she’s remained active, and most recently appeared in 2019’s "Poms" alongside Diane Keaton.
Kelsey Grammer played the well-known Frasier Crane, who of course went on to have his own show, "Frasier", after Cheers wrapped up. He still hasn’t slowed down, and continues to act to this day, most recently appearing in the film "Money Plane" in 2020.
Kirstie Alley, known for playing Rebecca Howe, experienced a more substantial fall-off in her career, likely due to her struggle with weight gain as she aged. She’s been featured in many tabloids for this reason alone, and understandably had her fill of Hollywood more than a few times. However, in recent years she’s been working on a comeback, and recently appeared in a made-for-television Lifetime movie called "You Can’t Have My Daughter".
John Ratzenberger is the amusing Cliff Calvin, but he’s also the iconic voice behind dozens of Pixar characters and films. His long-standing and successful relationship with Disney has continued over the years, as he lends his voice to nearly every project they release. Still, he’s made regular appearances in shows like "Bob Hearts Abishola".
George Wendt, who played Norm Peterson, is less active than some of his co-stars, but remains active nonetheless. He is going to appear in the film "Stealing a Survivor", which is slated for a 2020 release.
Bebe Neuwirth, who played Lilith Sternin, is one of the youngest cast members from Cheers. Her career is far from over, as she’s continued to appear in television and film over the years. Most recently, she made a special cameo appearance in "Jumanji: The Next Level", which may suggest that she will reprise this role in subsequent Jumanji sequels.
Many of us remember Nicholas Colasanto, who played Coach Ernie Pantusso, the original bartender. Colasanto had a sudden and tragic death during the 3rd season of Cheers, which prompted the showrunners to replace his character with Woody Harrelson, playing the new bartender Woody Boyd. Although Colasanto’s character was written out of the show, both the characters and their real-life actors continue to remember him, and paid homage to his character and his legacy for the duration of the show – even in the very last episode.
