Parliament has marked International Women’s Day by hearing its first read-through of the long-awaited domestic abuse bill, that was previously delayed when Boris Johnson prorogued parliament last year.
The legislation has been broadly welcomed by women’s rights campaigners and MPs alike.
One of those is the Labour MP for Canterbury Rosie Duffield whose story went viral last year after she shared her own experience of domestic abuse.
