Ford Puma is set to create its own niche when it arrives in Australia in October. The high-riding crossover slots into a new segment for Ford. Sitting below the all-new Escape mid-size SUV but above the unloved Ford Eco Sport.
The bad news is the Fiesta-based Ford Puma won’t be is cheap, priced from just under $30,000. And its top-line model will be almost 20% more!
While a hotter ST version is in the wings, for now, all Pumas will be powered by a turbo 1.0-litre petrol engine that sends its 92kW and 170Nm to the front wheels only — via a seven-speed automatic transmission.
Ford’s Driver Assistance Technology safety suite is standard and a ‘Park Pack’ that includes auto parking and adaptive cruise control can be added to even the base model.
