10 Scariest Things Caught On GoPro Camera
The GoPro was developed with action sports in mind, hence the name action camera. However, it has
been used for many other purposes since, and some of the results are quite scary to see. Number 1
especially so stay tuned for that. Here are 10 of the scariest things caught on gopro.

Number 10. Rattlesnake Encounter

If there’s one animal that you should never, ever antagonize, it’s a rattlesnake. These venomous vipers
are extremely dangerous, and have very short tempers. That’s why i couldn’t believe my eyes when I
saw this footage.
In the footage we see several bike riders exploring the Bulldog trail in Black Hills, South Dakota. As the
rider in front passed over a small gate in the fence, he noticed a rattlesnake coiled up on the side of the
path. He of course alerted his friends of the snake’s presence.
You’d think riding past an aggressive rattlesnake would be scary enough but the cameraman decided to
up the ante and intentionally provoked the deadly rattler. He slid the GoPro up to the snake, which
made it rattle its tail, warning of an impending strike. It coiled, then launched at the camera lightning
fast, leaving behind what looks like venom on the lens.
Rattlesnakes are found throughout America and have some of the most toxic venom of all snakes in the
Western Hemisphere. A bite from one of these deadly creatures can cause blood clots and necrosis of
the skin, leading to convulsions, paralysis and ultimately heart failure – death can occur six to 48 hours
after a bite.

Number 9. Even More Rattlesnakes

Now, if you thought the last rattlesnake encounter was terrifying enough wait till you see this footage.
Taken in rural Montana, U.S. two hikers stumble upon a pit of rattlesnakes and decide to film it with
their GoPro.
In the footage we see the camera hover above what looks to be at least 20 or more rattlesnakes, all
writhing over each other. You can hear the menacing sound of their rattles as they warn the intruders to
keep their distance. One snake becomes curious enough to investigate the camera. It stares into the
lens, tongue flicking, seemingly looking straight into your soul, before angrily striking the GoPro.
Finally, one of the snakes lunges at the camera knocking it into the pit. It sits there, among the
exacerbated hum of the threatened animals. In the background you can hear the cameraman moan that
he’s lost his camera. Eventually he manages to retrieve it with the handle end of a hockey stick, getting
far closer to the writhing pit of snakes than most sensible people should.

Number 8. Surviving a Plane Crash

Statistically speaking, flying is still the safest way to travel. But don’t say that to the people involved in
this crash which was documented from take-off to not so soft landing by GoPro.
On December 11th, 2013, a Cessna 208B departed from the Kalaupapa Airport on the island of Molokai,
Hawaii. Two minutes into the flight, the plane suffered from engine failure and had to do an emergency
water landing. The entire thing was caught on GoPro.
In the footage, you can clearly hear the warning beeps of the plane, signifying engine failure. You can
also clearly see the plane tilting onto its side before finally landing on the water. What’s amazing about
the footage is the calm demeanor of the passengers themselves. No one gave a shout of panic, to the
point that the entire ordeal was eerily quiet.
All the passengers and crew were able to don life vests and were able to exit the doomed plane before it
sank into the ocean. Unfortunately, there was one fatality; a passenger who mistakenly wore an infant’s
life vest which was rated only for 35 pounds. The rest of the passengers and crew were rescued by the
coastguard 80 minutes later.

Number 7. A Volcanic Eruption

Mount Ontake is a volcano located on the island of Honshu, Japan. It’s a popular tourist spot, with
dozens of scenic hiking trails crisscrossing the mountain. On September 27 th , 2014 at around midday,
Mount Ontake suddenly erupted taking hundreds of hikers by surprise.
In the footage, we see several hikers ascending a steep ridge. In the distance you can see a gigantic
cloud of volcanic ash rising into the air. It gradually gets larger and larger as it takes over the blue
skyline.
The hiker’s initial reaction seems to be one of awe, as they process what exactly they’re witnessing.
